At Desert Valley Pediatric Therapy we believe that we have a responsibility as therapists to provide opportunities for students to learn and grow. DVPT's speech, physical and occupational therapists are willing to spend time with students at all levels, providing opportunities to observe therapy sessions in many different settings.
Every summer, several volunteer positions are available with Junior Jabberee, our social skills summer day camp. The seven week internship provides the student with hands on experience working with children ages 3-9 in a multi-disciplinary environment. Guided by licensed speech/language pathologists and occupational therapists, the students will gain valuable knowledge and experience, as well as develop relationships with other students and therapists. We begin accepting applications for Junior Jabberee summer interns in February each year.
Throughout the year, there are several opportunities for students to shadow therapists in both the clinic and home-based settings. Students in need of observation hours to apply for a master's program, or for assistant certification, can be matched with a therapist who is willing to provide an opportunity to shadow and ask questions.
At the conclusion of their volunteer experience, all students will be provided a letter verifying their observation and interactive hours. If you are interested in additional information or to apply for either an internship or a shadowing opportunity, please contact fill out our student inquiries form.
