Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists are experts in child development. We take a developmental approach to therapy, building important skills needed to progress along the developmental ladder. Occupational therapists are equipped to evaluate and understand a child's individual differences that may be impacting development and participation in daily occupations. We are able to adapt the task and environment to provide the "just right challenge" to support growth.
Our occupational therapists focus on the areas of:
-
Developmental milestones
-
Self-regulation
-
Executive functioning skills like attention, sequencing, time management
-
Daily living skills like personal hygiene and dressing
-
Feeding
-
Gross motor skills and coordination needed for play & daily activities
-
Fine motor skills needed for academic & self help
-
Sensory integration skills
-
Play development
Therapy is conducted in the child's home environment or in our beautiful clinic depending on what will benefit the family most. The therapist works closely with the family members on all goals and strategies, providing a unique plan that builds upon the child's strengths. This collaborative and interdisciplinary approach allows the child to be as successful as possible in their home, school, and community... however that looks for them!
